Bogle Photography

The art and craft of photography. Where both traditional and digital photography make great images. We specialize in local landscapes, fall foliage, and black and white fine prints. The beauty of the Hudson Valley gives us many opportunities to practice our craft.

Less than a week away! Sign up now! I will post an entry on my blog about what to expect for a photowalk.

Yes, join me and up to 50 other photographers for the Third Annual Worldwide Photowalk on the Walkway over the Hudson on Saturday, July 24, 2010. It is billed as the world's largest social gathering of photographers. Experience the Hudson River from 212 feet above the river. See the Mid Hudson Bridge, the Hudson Highlands and the Catskills from the Walkway. See the people and unique sites of dogs, bikes, strollers, runners, rollerbladers and more on the Walkway. For pictures and more information, check out my Blog at http://Boglephoto.blogspot.com. I have pictures I have taken from and of the Walkway, including some pre-construction images.

Best of all, it is FREE! All you need are a good pair of sneakers, a water bottle, some sunscreen and a camera. No need to be a professional photographer, just have a desire to take pictures and be with other "Camera buddies."

We will meet afterwards at Mahoney's Irish Pub in Dooley Square, right next to the train station. Take the train to Poughkeepsie - you don't need a car (remember this is a walk). The food and drink is not free: you need to buy your own, but we will gather to discuss the walk and look at people's images.

Sign up today! Thanks. Click on the link below:

I am part of new show curated by River Winds Gallery. It is at the Wells Fargo Advisors located at 6423 Montgomery Street, Rhinebeck, NY.

I have six photographs in the exhibit, which include two images from Yellowstone National Park, two from the Walkway of the Hudson with ice on the River, a fall foliage image from Locust Grove at the Morse Estate in Poughkeepsie which has three stone walls (which is a personal favorite location to make images) and lastly, by request, Al Capone's cell from Eastern State Penintenary, Philadelphia, PA. Please check out the show.

I am a proud participant in the Advanced Photo Critique at Barrett Art Center.  We meet monthly or so to view each other's work, comment and cuddgle each other, and improve our work. It is a special group of people who are very interested in photography and each other.

Thank you to all who ordered your 2010 Western Beauty Desktop calendar. The images of the West and Yellowstone are special. I am planning to make it a series, and may print a series of limited editions.

The banner image at the top is of the Hudson River from Constitution Marsh, looking North, on a cold December morning. The water had a quick freeze of thin ice, which created a great pattern, and the early light illuminated the reeds. The Hudson Highlands are to the north, with the cut of the old Storm King Highway on the left mountain.

After years of traditional black and white wet darkroom work, we are moving to digital capture and printing. With the newer ditigal cameras the quality of the images and post capture workflow editing can get as much, if not more, information from a shot. We use an Epson Professional Inkjet printer, and are enjoying matching papers and prints, just like in a tradtional darkroom. The papers and inks allow even a broader range of choices. The paper now reminds us of the older fiber based wet prints we love so much.
