William F. Bogle, Jr.
Photographer and printer.
I have studied and practiced photography and black and white printing for over twenty years. I learned to print in a black and white darkroom, and enjoy that process in the digital age. Inkjet printers and Photoshop and Lightroom have given me the range and choices over controling my color prints like I did with black and white in a wet darkroom. I have moved on to the latest software with Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3. It has opened my eyes to the possibilities to make incredible images and prints. My Epson 3880 is making better prints of images I have had printed in the past.
My color landscapes favor the beauty of the Hudson Valley, fall foliage and snow. My black and white prints show the beauty and depth of shadows and the differences in light. I have attended workshops, studied books, and original prints of my favorite photographers. I have been influenced by David Vestal, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Jerry Monkman, Dan McCormick and many others.
My most recent challenge is to get organized in my photographic archive. I have started to apply good Digital Asset Management (DAM) procedures, and follow the advice of Peter Krogh. It is challenging, but required and rewarding. I built my own desktop to be a photoshop computer, and have set up a network of computers and storage to feed my archive. I am making sense of my disorganized images, and adding value to my collection.
